Comercio ilicito en el Mar del Sur : papeles del Archivo General de Indias Sevilla : 1704-1712.

Because of Dahlgren's interest in French and British attempts to break the Spanish monopoly on trade in the South Pacific early in the 18th century, he had copied for him a group of documents pertinent to the subject he had selected in the Archive. The documents include royal decrees, letters from viceroys and other officials, decisions and measures taken to prohibit foreign commerce, and statements of pilots, sailors, merchants, and slaves who had been taken from French, British, Dutch, and Portuguese ships seized in Spanish waters. Most of the material is dated from Lima, Peru or Arica, Chile and cover the years 1704 to 1712.
